In the face of “lovin it”, Macs have replaced most, if not all of their older front-line staff with young, rude people.
What used to be standard “What sauce would you like with your chicken wings?”, “Having here or taking away?” have conveniently gone out the nicely cleaned windows.
What used to be a patient wait and “Thank you!” for the customer to get their change back into their wallet, is now changed to “Next!”.
So this saves money? It pushes productivity?
That is not to say that consumers are not to be blamed in this service trade. I was once in service, and sometimes, we meet up with clients who are just full of nonsense; these? deserve nonsense. Thank goodness, these creatures only occupy less than 1 percent of the clients that I meet. Most of them are just sweet and considerate! I should think that it has remained the same that most clients are good people, and there are only those few that are the bad apples.
The society has gotten to appreciate quality less and less. Especially in the quality of its customer service. “You pay for what you get!” is what I hear a lot of people saying. But, like what I’ve always said, good service does not come with paying, it comes even without paying. I do not believe that only the rich are entitled to good services.
I can’t wait till the day when burgers will be self-service. And we, the customer will have to press our own cold buttons to order, pay by cash-card, and receive our food at the end of the queue. Along the queue, will be the same young rude people who used to serve us; but they wouldn’t know better since they’ve never known what good service is; that which comes from the heart. They probably have no heart.
